In the series of Ouran High School Host Club, Yamamoto Yusuke stars in the role of Suou Tamaki, the founder of the Host Club and their most requested host. A school for the richest of the Japanese families high school students, the students spend their spare time attempting to alleviate their boredom. Tamaki devised the Host Club to help the other students to be able to fulfill some of their inner fantasies, gathering up some students as hosts and assigning them a specific "type." As for Tamaki's type, he is the Prince.

To his female guests, Tamaki is beautiful, incredibly charming, and he lives to make them happy. To his friends, he is an overdramatic, clumsy, and naive idiot of sorts. He is absolutely ridiculous and completely full of himself, constantly decorating their club room with the most extravagant and expensive of sceneries. His clients absolutely adore him and eat up every single word he says, which are always the words they want to hear.

When I first discovered that Yamayu was going to be cast as Tamaki, I thought to myself that he would likely be a great match for the character. As ana ctor, he is incredibly versatile and able to play both serious and comedic roles. I found that my expectations were well met. Yusuke himself is a rather fun and ridiculous person, so acting entirely over the top wasn't that hard for him. He played his role well.

However, there were a few times here and there where he seemed to fall flat - where he couldn't quite capture Tamaki's "princely allure" to its fullest. He couldn't seem to blend funny, over the top, and exceedingly rich together in a few of the scenes. I think part of it was that his voice had a hard time carrying itself like he was above others. He didn't quite capture the princely tone, if you know what I mean. Sometimes he just seemed like a regular guy to me. However, over all, he did a great job - his overdramatic tendencies, his naive romantic notions, his inability to understand his own feelings of love, and his utter lack of common knowledge were spot on.

Also, please note that these little tidbits are my own opinions. They are not meant to offend anyone, and if you don't agree with them, that's great. It just means that you have your own unique opinion :)
